Agriculture has been the backbone of the Indian economy and it will continue to remain so for a long time. It has been most important and promising sector in the Indian economy, contributes to about 17% to the GDP. As per the IMF and CIA world fact book, 2015 India ranks second worldwide for agriculture out put (413 billions in USD) followed by China (1088 billions in USD) and employed 51% of the total workforce of the country. In 2008, a New York Times article claimed, with the right technology and policies, India could contribute to feeding not just itself but the world. To boost up the Indian economy further and fulfill the needs of ever growing population of the country and the world, still there is a wide scope to increase the agriculture out put by using modern machineries and techniques which results in timely field operations, higher field efficiencies, higher productivities and reduction in human drudgery. Agricultural Engineering section was started with the establishment of this college in 2006. Agricultural Engineering is the discipline that applies engineering science and technology to agricultural production and processing with knowledge of agricultural principles. Agricultural Engineering discipline, imparting the study on various aspects viz., ., 1. Farm Power and Machinery which includes the modern and improved farm machineries used for farm mechanization such as seed bed preparation, seeding / planting, plant protection, harvesting and threshing. 2. Post harvest technology of various agricultural commodities and its storage to improve and preserve the quality and quantity of farm produce. 3. Protected cultivation includes the structural design and efficient use of various modern techniques used in green houses and shade net to get the maximum, qualitative and off- season production of different crops. 4. Soil and water conservation engineering including land surveying and its management, farm irrigation with pumping machineries. Agricultural Engineering section of this college has good infrastructure and well qualified and experienced faculty members in the area of agricultural engineering.
